Micro-Mini ADVANCED Rules

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Welcome to Micro Miniatures ADVANCED Rules, an easy to learn and rules-light tabletop miniatures skirmish game. Micro-Minis is a rules-light miniatures gaming system intended to help new gamers more easily jump into the world of tabletop skirmish warfare.

This ADVANCED rulebook included rules for purchasing weapons, armor, and items. Additionally, it includes new rules for Confidence and Retreats not featured in the basic version of the rules.

The game is intended to be an inexpensive entry into gaming. Players can use any gaming figurines or miniatures they have on hand. The game only uses six-sided dice (referred to as D6 in these rules). Finally, gaming terrain and buildings aren’t necessary (but can add some neat flavor if you have them).

These ADVANCED rules build on the FREE basic ones and act as a great starting place for the system. It is intended as a completely open-ended game. Play with any miniature you want in any universe or genre you want. Mix up genres if you feel like. The point is to simply have fun.

This specific rulebook offers slightly more ADVANCED concepts and ideas for the game system.

It is also perfect for experienced gamers looking for an easy, fast, and fun beer and pretzels style game they can pull out on the fly without very much time to invest in setup and lengthy game times.

Later rulebooks will offer expanded rules and options for specific themes, genres, and unit types.
If you would like a physical edition of this book, you can pick up the combo BASIC and ADVANCED rulebook on Amazon.

I tried to set up a little skirmish with this ruleset, and found the starting points values are WAY too low, a 15 point army is one commander with very little equipment. I would suggest tripling the point values at a minimum. I will try this and add another review. By the way, the commander is listed as 4 points on page 5, and 5 points on page 7. I used 5 points for my setup.

Thanks for the feedback. I will try to make some time to update these rules accordingly. Higher points sounds good. I think the 4 points error is a typo as well.

Noah, I found a starting point value of 100, enough to equip a group of 1 commander and 5 medium miniatures in a unit with a medium melee weapon, a medium ranged weapon, and a medium outerwear. Now, if you want to have your armies gain in strength or abilities as they battle, you could start with just enough points to put together a bare minimum army with just a weak hand weapon, and have the units get more powerful and be able to buy more effective gear as they level up.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
